London Conchord Ensemble (www.conchord.co.uk) appointed the extraordinary Spanish clarinetist, Maximiliano Martin(www.maximilianomartin.com) as Principal Clarinet earlier this year.  The British Press have acclaimed Maximiliano's clarinet playing as 'breathtaking' (Herald), that he has 'poetry in his soul' (Scotsman).   Maximiliano was born in Tenerife, later studying in Barcelona and London.  The winner of many prizes, scholarships and competitions he performs regularly as soloist with orchestras in Europe and is principal clarinet of the Scotish Chamber Orchestra.

London Conchord Ensemble is one of the finest mixed chamber music ensembles performing in Europe today. Based in London, the ensemble explores both the traditional and contemporary repertoire of chamber music written for combinations of strings, wind and piano.
Following their critically acclaimed debut at the Wigmore Hall debut in October 2002 the ensemble has continued to perform extensively throughout the UK, Europe and North America.  Highlights of recent seasons include performances at Schleswig Holstein Musik Festival, Dusseldorf Tonhalle, Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Palais des Beaux Arts, Niedersachsen Musik Festival and tours of Ireland, France and America.  The 10/11 season includes a new residency at the prestigious Eton College and concerts in the UK and American including the Library of Congress in Washington.
Late last year Maximiliano joined London Conchord Ensemble in their latest CD recording.  Entitled 'St Petersburg' the disc includes music by Shostakovich, Balakirev, Glazunov and features Maximiliano particularly in the Glinka Trio Pathetique.  Released 2 weeks ago the CD has received critical acclaim with The Telegraph newspaper nominating it as their 'CD of the Week' and awarding it an outstanding 5 Star review and The Observer newspaper calling it a 'rare treat', 'played with style and verve'.

Listen:  Excerpts from the CD including the Glinka Pathetique and the Shostakovich Piano Trio may be heard at www.conchord.co.uk/samples.htm. An audio clip of the ensemble's performance at the Amsterdam Concertgebouw last year may also be heard at this link.
